Andrew and Heather Rozell bio picture

Andrew & Heather

We both grew up in Denton and were married in November of 2006. We just bought our first house and love adjusting to our older home's "character." In our spare time, we enjoy working on graphic and web design projects together. This blog chronicles our adventures and misadventures. Thanks for visiting.

Quick Hits – 3rd Ed.

Slow week in terms of Andrew and Heather, so here is another installment of quick hits. Enjoy!

  • For all you math geeks, like me. Pretty clever: New Math
  • On Capital Hill this week the talk has mostly been about taxes. Specifically, Obama new tax plan that we are seeing a bit more clearly everyday. For example, Obama claims he will only be raising taxes on the “rich”, some 2% of Americans. However, in truth Obama will be raising taxes for the top 2 tax brackets, 80% of which is small business owners (which file taxes in association with personal income, like an “s-corp”). And when looked at deeper we see in the past decade 60-80% of all new jobs created were created by “small businesses.” This could ultimately add to the employment issue at hand, among other things: New York Post, The Telegraph.UK, The Wallstreet Journal
  • More pork please. 8,570 earmarks at a cost of $7.7 billion: New York Post
  • Heather and I watch Governor Jindal’s response after Obama and both immediately thought of Kenneth, the Page. Apparently, we weren’t the only ones:

  •  Could Weimeraners be any more adorable?

Wassailfest

Wassailfest took place December 4 of last year. I don’t know I didn’t post sooner. Anyways, Wassailfest is part of the Lighting Festival on the Historic downtown Denton square. It is great to see the square come alive with several thousand people coming to enjoy music, shopping, Christmas cheer and, of course, Wassail.

Rozell Manifesto

Many years ago, when Rozellboys.com was first launched (circa 2004), Clay sent me a statement he had written and felt compelled to have it on the site. He called it “The Rozell Manifesto.”

Last week, I found it:

Brotherhood could be defined as “An association of men, such as a fraternity or union, united for common purposes.” And what truer sense can be shown through me and my brothers, my family, my blood. We all four were united, neither by choice or association, but by God’s sovereign providence to build each other up in our common purpose of encouragement and accountability of each other.

Who can describe what brothers feel towards each other and the intimacy of their relationships? My brothers and I are the only ones that can truly laugh at our history together and the stories of our pasts, and the only ones intimate enough to cry with each other over the hurt and pain of the very same histories.

To be one’s brother is still considered the highest honor, to be able to associate themselves, by a bond as vital as blood, to one another. I am honored and privileged to associate myself with my three brothers, and the companionship they offer cannot be duplicated or replaced.

I do not write this for my own personal gratification, but rather as an acknowledgment and sign of reverence not to myself or the Rozell boys in a pious attempt to draw attention to us, but a reverent gesture of respect to where we brothers have been, what we have dealt with, and where we are going, as a united force with a united mentality of success and brotherhood.

The brothers have been on a journey, and will continue to travel it. Throughout our journey we have traveled with others and, at times, felt like we were traveling alone, we have laughed and cried, celebrated life and mourned death, loved, and felt betrayal, but all the while we have continued on and we have done so in the companionship of our brothers.

I couldn’t have said it better.

Quick Hits – 2nd Ed.

Thought I would stop down and provide a couple links of interest.

  • This dispels all most of the negative connotations I once had about Cajuns:  CBS News
  • If you want to know what is going on day by day: Fox News
  • ETSY certainly does not mean homemade is necessarily wholesome (maybe NSFW): ETSY.com
  • I don’t think I am going to find a Bush corollary to this: Obama Sound Board
  • Proof that racism has been conquered in America: New York Post

Duchess, ruler of the house

I took advantage of Duchess looking like she runs the house. Actually, she looks like this all the time; she is so arrogant.
