The Ticket’s Great Game – Part 2

True to my word, here are some more pictures of the Great Game of baseball that took place last week. As always, the Ticket was quite entertaining to watch. But as the night wore on, the feeling of being entertained slowly grew into tired-head watching these “men” struggle on the field. Never-the-less, it was a good time had by all.

Big dumb Danny calling his shot. Yep, he called a grounder up the middle.

The wind up and release look surprisingly good, the outcome… not so much.

Jub Jub doing a bit of everything on defense and offense. Look at the guns!

Corby holding down first base. Very Crush Davis like.

Every once and a while there would be a great play. Here is Donny-Do, doing his part in center.

Classic Sports Sturm.

Mike, who looks a little bit too happy to be trotting to first eventually stole (!) second.

Close play a the plate, but Mike beat him out.

Gordon Keith. Always the jokester.

The Ticket’s Great Game – Part 1

These are just a few of the shots from last night’s Great Game at Ruff Riders Stadium. I will get more pictures up this weekend, but thought I would throw up a little today. It was another great night for baseball and the Ticket was quite entertaining.

Scott: College Grad

Four years ago, I never thought Scott would have chosen a small, extremely conservative private school in the middle of Michigan to attend college. And I certainly never considered he would stay 4 years and graduate said school. Never-the-less he did and is now a very proud graduate of Hillsdale College.

To those who haven’t heard of Hillsdale (which are many), it is the only non-federally funded college in the nation. The students, faculty and alumni are very proud of this and seem to form bonds around what that fact represents. Also, because of the pride associated to this school, the air can be stuffy. Well, we Texans visiting weren’t going to let sports coats and terminal degrees abounding hinder any fun for us!

Going through pictures last night, I didn’t really find a single shot without many smiles and laughs. We all had great time joining Scott in his, much deserving, celebration.

Here are my photos that I think represent the weekend, perfectly.

This picture is the main building on campus, Central Hall. You can see this building tower over the trees from outside of town. This building typifies the architecture found throughout campus.

Zach quickly saw and took the opportunity to sit on Margaret Thatcher’s lap. Oh Zach.hillsdale_grad-3

Scott was smiling and laughing all day. And why wouldn’t he? He worked hard for 4 years.

I think we were all glad to see my dear grandmother (Gannie) make the 3 hour flight and 2 hour drive to Hillsdale to watch Scott walk. She, like everyone else, was in high spirits throughout the weekend.

I am finding that Scott, though obliging for a serious picture, will turn suddenly into a goofy pose. I wonder where he gets that from…

hillsdale_grad-12

Nevermind.

hillsdale_grad-8

I don’t even know what to say… he was excited?

hillsdale_grad-4

This is Scott’s roomate and good friend Tom Quinn with his girlfriend Virginia and her dog, Freddy. We were able to hang out with these two Friday night and get to know know them over a competitive game of “Catch Phrase.” And yes, the guys did win!

And the graduate with mom, me and Zach.

Scott and dad have a unique relationship. I am so glad I caught this moment on film. This is the definition of candid.

Scott Rozell, Bachelor of Science in Economics. Congrats brother!

over sharpening

Note: Photography Post

Sharpening a photo in the right amount can make a photo. Over-sharpening an image can make you look just plain bad. However some photographers have gone against the grain to take over-sharpened images and make them pieces of art. Dave Hill is one the most famous; in fact he owns the “Dave Hill Effect.” And although he has great lighting to begin with, his post-processing is down right incredible.

Not to try and mimic Dave Hill, I did attemt to over-sharpen a couple of images to see what the end look would communicate. Here are two shots. Thoughts?
