Andrew & Heather
We both grew up in Denton and were married in November of 2006. We just bought our first house and love adjusting to our older home's "character." In our spare time, we enjoy working on graphic and web design projects together. This blog chronicles our adventures and misadventures. Thanks for visiting.
Its been awhile since my last quick hit post, so I thought I would start this week off with one. Generally as school starts back up, life tends to get a little more hectic; especially for students and parents. However, in my profession, when school starts back up the office actually gets a little bit of a rest from summer and I am looking forward to that.
First up, the ever popular Health Care issue. I recently saw a portion of the Michael Moore film “Sicko” and toleratted him for about 10 minutes. His base line argument seemed to be that since health care is so cheap in other countries why can’t it be in America? Well the reason it is so cheap in other countries is because it’s not cheap here! Our dollars pay for reseach and development, not moneys from the third world. Anyways, given the argument that univsersal, single payer systems are so great, I thought is was interesting to see this article pop-up: Canadians Visit US to get Health Care
Speaking of Michael Moore, I must confess, I don’t like him. I think regardless of who created “Sicko” I would not like the film, but I don’t like it that much more because of him. In a recent interview he made the bold stupid statement, “Never trust anyone from Texas.” Truthout.org
North Texas open their season on national television, ESPNU, this Thursday against Ball State. I went to their scrimmage Saturday and young Riley Dodge is the real deal.
Lastly, I would like to bring back a RozellBoys film from the archive, enjoy:
I learn more about photography daily. Whether that be which photographer is “hot” right now or how to handle camera settings given a situation. However, the most important thing that I have learned and that I continue to try and perfect is light. Ultimately and foundamentally all photography is about light. Its about the amount, the quality, the direction, the type, and the list goes on and on. If someones can master the control of light, they have made it. Anyways, in my pursuit to master light, Heather has joined me in toying with camera settings in different light situations. The first picture is an attempt to create a sort of sun-drenched summer-y feel photo. The other pictures are just us goofing off with a flash light in the front yard. Though the photos have completely different looks and feels to them, the only difference between them was the light used.
Heather and I were able to take advantage of the great Texas weather last night and go to a Texas Ranger game. Though the outcome of the game was not the desired, we both did still enjoy hanging out at the Ballpark. Strangely enough, unplanned, we saw my brother Clay there with my nephew Rev. Here are some shots of the game:
Here is Josh Hamilton knocking a stand-up double off the left field wall.
After Josh’s double, Ian Kinsler jacked a 3-run homer over the left field wall.
Clay and Rev.
The nice man tending the aisle offered to take mine and Heather’s picture. Notice the smiley teenagaer photo-bombing us!
2) I think this is extremely true and I wish that I was more considerate of the amazing in my life.
So thats it. A short post with a video. I hope this makes you laugh like it did me and I hope that you take something away from it to. Without further adieu:
I love being an uncle. As followers of this blog know, I love hanging out with them and I love taking pictures of them.
The other day I was out at Zach’s house, sitting on his couch looking at a DVD case – some super hero cartoon movie. As I read over the case to see what this cartoon movie was all about, little 18 month old Jones crawled up on the couch with me. He sat right down beside me. Out of instinct, I guess, I began reading aloud the back over the DVD case. After I was done reading the 2 paragraphs, I looked at Jones and he looked at me (clearly disapointed the read was over). I said, “Jones, I think we need a real book.” In his still infant, broken voice he responded, “Booook” and started crawling off the couch and left. About 60 seconds later, he came stumbling around the corner with Curious George. He crawled back up on the couch with me and said, “Book.”
I am not suppose to play favorites with my nephews, but Jones was lobbying hard that day. I actually have 2 nephews under 2: Jones and Calvin – cousins. Here is a recent picture I took of Calvin at Bo’s birthday party.
Also, while on the subject of nephews, Clay approached me of taking photos of him and his two sons. His idea was certainly not traditional, but I of course obliged. The project was to take photos of just their eyes and create some type of print to hang on the wall. The end result was three prints printed on photoboard at nine inches by fifteen. I think it turned out great. Here is a picture that Emily snapped of the final result:
